JAANE TU...YA JAANE NA - Movie Review
JAANE TU YA…JAANE NA Movie Review
Ratings: 3.5
Whenever perfectionist Aamir Khan is at the helm of affairs it is bound to be praiseworthy.
Seems like history is in a mood to repeat itself. Two decades ago, Aamir's Uncle Nasir Hussain gave a dream debut to Aamir with QSQT way back in 1988, where debutants Aamir & Juhi with their fabulous chemistry worked wonders at box-office and till date the film is treasured as one of the most beautiful fresh love story. And now in 2008 Imraan Khan, grandson of Nasir Hussain have been launched by his uncle Aamir Khan with JAANE TU…YA JAANE NA under Aamir Khan Productions which has already opened with good reviews from various corners.
Now talking about the film, it is a simple, uncomplicated, lovable, unblemished, cherishing lovestory. Jai Singh Rathore aka 'Rats' (Imran) and Aditi Mahant aka 'Meow'(Genelia) are two different characters who are diametrically opposite from each other. If 'Rats' is a cool, calm, caring, charming, sensitive, funny, utterly non-violent Rajput than on other side 'Meow' is violent and passionate, high on life, loves everything to do with life and living, laughs easy, cries easy, gets into scraps, adopts stray kittens, a great friend who does everything in life with extremity. But despite of all this Rats and meow are best friends and are extremely possessive of each other. They long for each other's company but are definitely not in love and still wonder why close friends and parents believe that they are in love! When they realize that it's high time and can't go ahead spending their lives in the same manner for the entire lifetime being as best friends, they drop in to a conclusion of finding someone special in their lives. With this they go ahead and also find someone special for themselves but it takes away Jai & Aditi far from each other. Despite of constant denials ultimately they understand that they are in love with each other.
The beginning is trouble-free but ends in a typical filmy style.
Abbas Tyrewala's directorial debut has no extraordinary storyline or very high-production values but regardless of this the film is easy on the eye and immensely watchable. Abbas has beautifully woven the moments in the film with ease. He has brilliantly elucidated every aspect of human relationship right. The movie in overall is quite engrossing, captivating but there are times when it gets slow in its pace. Humour is not deliberate; it comes naturally with the way lines have been delivered. The execution of the film sounds similar to that of CHALTE CHALTE but it doesn't make one feel uninteresting. Though the plot is obvious but it is rendered in a style that keeps you keyed up to go with the flow of the movie. The theme of the film might seem similar to KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI but it is dealt in a mature manner and with much subtlety. This fresh youthful outing with the elements of friendship, love, jealousy, confusion, irritation, etc at times reminds us of the brilliant movie DIL CHAHTA HAI.
Talking about performances than each character has played its part with full justice. Hats off to the casting director for the characterization. Genelia has surely grown as an actor; she very well exhibits the fusion of emotions under which she runs through be it jealousy, her bubbly act, confusion, happiness, depress etc. Imraan's casual, polite, warm attitude perfectly fits the bill of Jai's Character. His expressions and act are just on time. The young college going character definitely suits his personality. The chemistry between Genelia and Imraan is truly amazing, looks very real. Their fantastic chemistry with the blend of excellent music makes this youth lovestory delightful and worth watching. Their gang affiliates; Rotlu, Bombs, Shaleen, Jiggy have brilliantly lend their support to the movie. The director has taken care of all the characters in the movie, giving importance to all the characters. MUMBAI SALSA fame Mnajari who plays Imraan's girlfriend in the movie has played her short-lived character upto the mark. Model Ayaz Khan who plays Genelia's fiancé has given faultless performance for his negative shade character. Genelia's brother in the film Amit though has played a very very brief role but does leave an impact on minds with his effortless act. Other supporting casts like Ratna Pathak, Paresh Rawal, Jayant Kriplani , Anuradha Patel, Rajat Kapoor, Kitu Gidwani have also played their parts very well. The Surprise elements Naseeruddin shah, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan are the contributors of humour, who may seem silly on the face but on the whole they light up the environment fun with their Rajput acts and their highlights on 3 Rajput ancestral conditions.
Music maestro AR Rahman has once again delivered golden results in creating youthful outburst in JAANE TU YA JAANE NA with inspiring, foot-tapping and catchy soundtracks.
On the whole the movie is worth spending. This minimum budget youthful, engertic, coolest, warmest, hippest, funniest musical-romantic-comedy deserves to be watched at least once. Though the concept is not new but youth will definitely love this sweet, honest, lovable movie.
So guys go ahead to revive your sweet fond memories of friendship, love, college days, etc….
I absolutely agree with this article quote by qoute. Just adding to it on the musical from here are my views. The first song ‘Kabhie kabhie aditi zindagi’ grows on you after each listening. For a debutante, a fresh voice was required and Rahman has recruited newcomer Rashid Ali. The song sounds new and refreshing, though not because of the vocalist. It has more to do with the trendy beats and the clean sound of the guitar. The Hindi-English lyrics are not mindless and they manage to conjure up images of a cosmopolitan society.
